Paul qualified as a Chartered Secretary in 1971 and was admitted as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries in 1980.

Following management training with the Acrow Group Limited, he joined Nuffield Hospitals, where he worked for almost 20 years, initially as Deputy Secretary and latterly as Executive Director of Nuffield Healthcare Limited.

Paul joined Sinclair Montrose Trust Limited in 1992 and was one of its directors in addition to being a director of its subsidiary and associated companies, including its primary healthcare development businesses, The Healthcare Property Company, and was instrumental in the establishment of walk-in GP centres in the UK developed under Sinclair Montrose Healthcare PLC.

In August 2004, Paul became Chief Executive of CareCapital Limited and of CareCapital Group Plc in August 2006. He resigned in January 2013, following the demerger of The Healthcare Property Company Limited, on his appointment as its Managing Director and is now the proprietor of its holding company, The Healthcare Property Group Limited.
